Marblehead Lighthouse
The Marblehead Lighthouse, built in 1821, is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great
Lakes. Now a State Park, the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society offers tours of the lighthouse, a
museum located in the old Keeper’s House, and various seasonal events and festivals throughout the year.

Kelleys Island Ferry
The ferry to Kelleys Island is a short walk from Red Fern Inn. The ferry runs approximately every hour,
with more frequent services at peak times and on holiday weekends. This family-owned and operated business
provides a short 20-minute ferry ride to and from the island, with great views of the Lake Erie Islands,
the Marblehead Lighthouse, Put-in-Bay and Cedar Point. Link to Website
Magee Marsh
Visit Magee Marsh Wildlife Area to take in the sights and sounds of local wildlife. Magee Marsh is a
perfect activity all year round - take a break from the summer sun with a shady walk, or plan a visit to
immerse yourself in the fall foliage. Spring is Magee Marsh's claim to fame, when huge numbers of North
American warblers stop through as part of their annual migration. The arrival of large populations of

Put-In-Bay
The small island of Put-in-Bay is a popular tourist destination offering plenty of activities for the

Cedar Point
Nicknamed "America's Roller Coast," the legendary Cedar Point is the second-oldest operating amusement
park in the country. Just a short drive away in neaby Sandusky, Cedar Point features 72 rides including 16

fun for all ages.

Johnson's Island
Johnson's Island is a 300-acre island in Sandusky Bay, located on the coast of Lake Erie. Johnson's
Island was a Union prison for Confederate officers during the American Civil War. During its three years
of operation, more than 15,000 men were incarcerated there. The Johnson’s Island Museum was opened in the
summer of 2001. Exhibits cover all facets of the island’s history including the Civil War POW Depot, the
Pleasure Resort, and the quarry operations. The only area open to the public is the Confederate cemetery.
No other areas are open to the public. The cemetery is the only site remaining from the original POW Depot
that is open to the public.
The Johnson’s Island Museum (currently located in Sandusky, Ohio) opened in the summer of 2001 and has
since been relocated to provide additional space to display more images, artifacts, letters, and other
materials about Johnson’s Island. Exhibits cover all facets of the island’s history including the Civil
War POW Depot, the Pleasure Resort, and the quarry operations. Johnson’s Island Museum / Information
